Who I am
I'm a cisgender woman who identifies as LGBT2SQ+, bigger-bodied and an ADHDer. Growing up as the eldest in my family, I've witnessed the challenges and celebrations that come with both diagnosis and fully embracing my true self. I also have a deep, personal connection to the LGBT2SQ+ community and neurodivergent communities through my loved ones.
I have a passion for working with you to navigate a range of challenges, such as Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), LGBTQ2S+ identity exploration, being an ADHDer, depression, anxiety, trauma, self-esteem issues, and eating disorders. You may come from diverse a background and need a safe space where you can openly express yourself and feel supported in your journey of healing and self-discovery. I’d love to provide this for you!
My therapeutic approach is rooted in empathy, authenticity, and inclusivity. I strive to create an environment where you feel seen, heard, and valued, and I work collaboratively with you to help cultivate personal growth. I believe in creating a non-judgmental space that honours your lived experiences and allows you to explore your inner world more easily. Central to my approach is the idea that therapy should adapt to you, meeting you where you are emotionally and psychologically. I focus on helping you recognize your inherent strengths while fostering self-awareness and emotional regulation skills.
My approach is eclectic, drawing from various therapeutic methods to meet your unique needs. I emphasize Strength-Based Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). However, I am mindful of adapting strategies from these models to better fit those of you in intersectionally marginalized groups who have and continue to experience systemic oppression.
My journey into psychotherapy has been deeply influenced by both personal and professional experiences. As a cisgender, bigger-bodied woman andADHDer, I have faced unique challenges that have shaped my empathetic and holistic approach to therapy. Being the eldest child in a neurodivergent and LGBT2SQ+ family has given me firsthand insight into the hardships and joys that accompany both mental health diagnoses and the process of embracing one’s true identity.
I developed a broad skill set through work in community mental health settings, and by staying engaged with continuing education to ensure I’m up-to-date on best practices. I value connecting with clients from diverse backgrounds, and I take pride in fostering a space where individuals feel comfortable expressing their authentic selves. My experiences with setting personal boundaries and building self-worth have informed my therapeutic work, allowing me to guide clients with compassion as they, too, navigate the complexities of life and relationships.
I enjoy spending time with my dog, who brings me a lot of joy and companionship. My hobbies include playing hockey, which keeps me grounded and energized, as well as reading, traveling to new places, and gardening, where I can connect with nature. I also love indulging in creative crafts, which helps me relax and express myself in different ways. Maintaining these hobbies allows me to stay connected to what brings me peace and fulfillment.
