Who I am
I identify as a cis, white woman with life-long lived experience as an ally, having grown up around LGBT2SQ+ and neurodivergent family members. From this, I could see the stigma, judgement, and exclusion that can exist within our society. This inspired me to become a therapist, and I have dedicated my life to making meaningful changes and supporting diverse populations.
As a mental health therapist, I have a therapeutic focus on supporting adolescents and young adults navigating identity exploration (gender identity, sexuality, ADHD, Autism, etc.), life transitions, trauma, anxiety, and grief. I also have experience working with chronic illness, along with eating differences and body image concerns.
I approach my work with you in a way that aims to foster a genuine connection. I support the exploration of your intersectional identities and journey towards more self-acceptance and self-compassion while also challenging systems-level stigma and oppression.
I draw on an eclectic number of modalities, e.g., narrative, ACT, CFT, EFT, CBT, IFS-informed, and somatic-based, to best fit your unique needs. I believe therapy should be tailored to your unique goals and experiences.
I first began volunteering in mental health and medical settings when I was fifteen and quickly developed a passion for supporting access to mental health and medical services. For many years, my work was centred around supporting seniors and cancer patients in a medical setting. Alongside this work, I continued to volunteer with various mental health services aimed at supporting university students, seniors, and others in crisis.
My experiences as a student mental health therapist and an online crisis volunteer in Ontario have allowed me to interact and engage with a wide range of people with varying concerns. I have experience working with people struggling with attachment issues, suicidal ideation, self-harm, insomnia, low self-esteem, OCD, anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, autism, life transitions, gender identity exploration, grief & loss, and chronic illness/pain. Through these experiences, I have also gained particular clinical and career interests related to neurodivergence, gender identity, trauma, anxiety, and grief & loss.
I‘m originally from Alberta, Canada, but in recent years moved to Ontario.
I enjoy baking, teaching my cat tricks, yoga, embroidery, and visiting interesting places. I’m a cat lover and a huge dinosaur nerd. My favourite specimen is Borealopelta Markmitchelli, on display at the Royal Tyrell Museum in Drumheller, Alberta. I enjoy different genres of music, and watching movies is one of my favourite pastimes. I usually watch three movies per week!
