  • ECLECTIC MODALITIES USED

    ECLECTIC MODALITIES USED

I take a holistic and integrative approach to therapy, believing in the profound connection between mind and body that is often overlooked in traditional therapy. My practice draws from a variety of evidence-based and affirming modalities, including CBT and DBT informed, Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Somatic-Based Approaches.

I incorporate these methods to help you explore your personal narrative, develop healthier ways of thinking and coping, and connect with your body’s wisdom to heal from the inside out. At the heart of my work is a commitment to unlearning oppressive societal and cultural norms that can hinder growth. By providing strengths and compassion based support, we focus on what is already working well in your life and build from there, always respecting your unique experience and identity.

*Please note that I am trained in traditional therapy models like CBT, DBT, etc., but I tend to use them in an informed, eclectic way instead of a one-model-therapy-fits-all approach.*

More About Charlotte

I began my mental health and addictions career in Ontario in 2011, initially working in withdrawal management at a local hospital and a residential addiction treatment center. I then transitioned into community mental health, gaining experience in outpatient addiction counselling, early psychosis intervention, and adult case management for individuals experiencing mental health issues such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and borderline personality disorder.

During this period, I was also involved with the Gilbert Centre in Barrie, Ontario, providing free counselling services to the LGBT2SQ+ community. After earning my master’s degree, I joined the Barrie Family Health Team and spent a year working with the Trans Health Team, covering the Simcoe-Muskoka region. Alongside this, I worked casually as a crisis worker at the hospital.

In 2020, I transitioned to a private eating disorders clinic and began building my own private practice. This led to the founding of Prismatic Compassion in March 2024, where I now offer online therapy and holistic services across Ontario.

Throughout my career, I have been committed to advocating for more inclusive environments. I’ve served on diversity committees within Simcoe County, Muskoka, and Barrie, organizing Pride events and developing policies to make workplaces more affirming for LGBT2SQ+ individuals. Advocacy for systemic change and inclusion has always been at the heart of my work.

CHARLOTTE'S WHY FOR FOUNDING PRISMATIC COMPASSION

Prismatic Compassion was born from my deep commitment to creating a safer, more validating space for mental health and holistic healing, especially for those often overlooked or underserved by traditional systems. As both a professional and someone with lived experience, I saw firsthand how marginalized communities face systemic barriers, invalidation, and a lack of personalized care in mental and physical health spaces.

I founded Prismatic Compassion to break away from the one-size-fits-all approach that dominates mental health care. My work is rooted in the belief that healing should be inclusive, affirming, and tailored to each individual’s unique experience, addressing both mind and body in a way that traditional models often fail to do.

Beyond therapy, I am passionate about advocacy, education, and dismantling gatekeeping in mental health. My goal is to create a space where you feel seen, heard, and supported on your journey toward self-understanding and growth.

If you’re looking for compassionate, neuro-affirming, and intersectional care, I invite you to connect with us.

EXTRA TIDBITS ABOUT CHARLOTTE

I‘m originally from England and moved to Barrie, Ontario, in 2006. I’ve stayed in Simcoe County ever since.

I enjoy a wide range of music (though the band Queen is a favourite), going to the cinema or the theatre, singing in my car, going on deep dives with research, loving a bit of history, taking photos of nature, clouds, and skies, going on day trips and adventures when possible, and anything else arts and crafts related. Currently, I‘ve been working on beginner crocheting projects. I also enjoy a bit of witty humour and think it's okay to have some silly fun now and then. I'm a massive animal lover and have three dogs. I love British comedies and comedies like Schitt’s Creek over here, along with movies that have a deeper story and a great soundtrack score, like Shawshank Redemption, The Woman in Gold, and Freedom Writers.
